  • A monthly subscription box that contains a custom pressed LP just for members, an art print inspired by the album, and a cocktail recipe to drink while you listen. Plus, there are coupons to other cool things!

Book: NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

  • a horror novel about a woman with a very special ability to “find” things, a serial killer/kidnapper with a very special car, and a trip to a very special place called Christmasland.
  • As you might guess, NOS4A2 is a vanity license plate on the bad guys car. While not a traditional vampire, Charlie Manx is definitely not a good guy, and his hired help may be even worse than him. Vic McQueen and her special ability stumble upon Charlie when she’s a teenager. She survives and he goes to jail, but that’s just the beginning of this story. Years later Charlie and his Rolls Royce Wraith show back up, only this time they’re after Vic’s son.
  • If you like creepy children mixed into your horror stories, you’ll like this one. It’s also being made into a tv series on AMC.

The amazingly awesome Julie Ann Emery joins Mel, Kelly, and Mike for recommendations and a wide ranging discussion that covers coloring, baked potatoes, rock and roll, Da Bears, falconry, and the evils of floppy bacon.

We didn’t make that description up, that is the actual show.

Julie Ann has appeared in Dexter, NCIS, CSI Miami, Fargo, Masters of Sex, and many many more.. but since Mike, Kelly, and Mel are all card carrying “Kettleheads”, our favorite role is the remarkable Betsy Kettleman from Better Call Saul.  She is also wonderfully engaging on Twitter and Instagram – and we are so happy she joined us for a show!

  • The PREMIER adult coloring app
  • Pigment is available on iOS only
  • It is a free app with the ability to add in paid goodies
  • Works amazingly with Apple Pencil and iPad Pro (but not required)

Julie Ann’s Recommendation:

Food: Baked potato awesomeness

  • Clean russet baking potatoes thoroughly
  • Coat in olive oil and sea salt
  • Do NOT wrap them up
  • Pop them in the oven around 425 for an hour to an hour and a half
  • Cut them open, top liberally (Julie Ann likes butter.. lots and lots and lots of butter) and enjoy… but save the skins
  • Cover the skins with cheese and pop them in the toaster oven for bonus baked potato skins!

Additional bacon cooking tip: Cook bacon in a cast iron skillet until you can pick it up like a stick.

  • Also recommends their 2D/3D concert film “Appetite for Democracy“

Movie: Lady Hawk (1985) 

  • Stars Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer, and Michelle Pfeiffer
  • Julie Ann disappointingly would throw no love to the vastly superior Sword and Sorcerer  (editorial opinion from Kelly)

Kelly’s Recommendation:

Documentary: The 85 Bears – 30 for 30

  • Part of the ESPN 30 for 30 series, this covers the 1985 Superbowl champs – Da Bears
  • If you are a Bears fan, you’ll LOVE it, if you aren’t, you’ll still really enjoy it
  • The documentary spends a lot of time on Buddy Ryan and the bonds he developed with the defensive players on the Bears
  • Plenty of time is spent with the wide cast of truly unique characters that made up this team.  Mad Mac, The Fridge, Mongo, Sweetness… what is not to love??

Hello Loyal Listeners!

I regret to inform you that my internet service is sad, pitiful, and almost nonexistence. Seriously, Texas is not a third world country, but you wouldn’t know it by my access to reliable internet. So, until my little first world problem gets resolved, Nurt and Supp is on a small hiatus. I know you’re sad, but it’ll be okay. Like Frosty The Snowman, we’ll be back someday. Hopefully in the next week or 2 or 3.
